Plaid Civil War Dress

I made this dress while I was taking costume classes at Fullerton College. Since I already had the corset, I only had to make the hoop, petticoat and dress. The dress is a plaid silk taffeta with lace collar and cuffs. I liked using the plaid on the bias to give interest to the skirt. The lace is gorgeous (and French) in one continuous piece from one side, across the shoulders, to the other side and down both sides of the front of the bodice. Lots of little iridescent glass buttons down the front bodice ruffle complete the look. I also made the lace cap.
